On Sunday evening, RB Leipzig secured their first win of the season against Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. The match was played at the Red Bull Arena and saw two goals from Leipzig's young talent, Yussuf Poulsen and Adama Traore, as well as a brace from their star forward, Timo Werner.
The game started off with both teams looking to take control early on, but it wasn't until the 19th minute that Leipzig finally got the breakthrough. Poulsen found the back of the net with a powerful header from a corner kick, giving Leipzig the lead they needed.
Dortmund looked to respond immediately, with Nkunku finding the back of the net just before half-time to level the score. However, Leipzig's dominance continued into the second half, with Werner scoring his brace in the space of three minutes.
Werner scored his first goal in the 52nd minute, after receiving a pass from Traore who had created the opportunity for him. Werner then added another in the 77th minute, finishing off a well-worked move between himself and Traore.
Despite being behind by two goals, Dortmund put up a strong fight throughout the remainder of the game, but it was too little, too late as Leipzig held on to secure all three points.
Overall, it was a dominant performance from RB Leipzig, who showed their attacking prowess once again. With Werner and Poulsen continuing to impress, and Nkunku showing his quality as a playmaker, Leipzig look set to challenge for the title this season.
